Pasted a TikTok link and got an error or no result? Here are the most common causes, in the order you should check them.
1. The video was made private or deleted
If the owner switched the video to private or deleted it, no tool can fetch it — not even TikTok itself will show it to you. Open the link in a browser: if TikTok says “This video is currently unavailable,” that’s your answer.
2. The pasted link isn’t a video link
A few common mix-ups:
- Pasting a profile link (
tiktok.com/@username) instead of a specific video link. - Pasting a link that went through a third-party shortener instead of TikTok’s own (
vm.tiktok.comortiktok.com/@.../video/...).
The safest way: open the TikTok app → the video you want → Share → Copy link, then paste it as-is — don’t retype or edit it.
3. The post is a photo slideshow
TikTok has two post types: regular video and photo slideshow (multiple images + background music). For slideshows, the tool returns images, not a single video file — see the TikTok slideshow download guide if you see a set of images instead of a video download button.
4. TikTok is making temporary server-side changes
TikTok occasionally changes its internal data structure for a few hours (usually after an app update), which can briefly trip up download tools. If one specific link fails but others still work fine, this isn’t the cause — recheck items 1-3. If every link fails at once, try again in 15-30 minutes.
5. Blocked or weak network
Some workplace/school networks block TikTok outright, so the page can’t fetch video data even with a valid link. Try a different network (4G or another Wi-Fi) to rule this out.
6. The downloaded video still has the watermark
This isn’t actually a “can’t download” issue — it’s a mix-up in steps. The tool always returns a clean, watermark-free file when downloaded through the Download button on this site, not by saving directly inside the TikTok app. See What is a no-watermark video?
Still stuck after checking all 6? Copy the link again — a single wrong character is enough to break recognition.
